Staff

Working at Camp Chen-A-Wanda is more than a summer job—it’s an experience that shapes who you are. Our counselors become part of something meaningful, joining a community defined not just by incredible activities and facilities, but by a powerful camp culture and spirit built by the people who make it all happen.

After a summer at Chenny, staff leave with lifelong friendships, meaningful relationships with campers, and unforgettable experiences through our programs, trips, and events. These are the stories that stay with you—and that you’ll share for years to come.

Our staff comes from diverse backgrounds, with many pursuing careers in education, sports, recreation, and beyond. While experience working with children is welcomed, it’s not required. Jobs at Camp

General Counselor

This is the classic counselor role at summer camp! You'll live in a communal setting, share meals with your campers, take them to activities, join them on off-camp trips, and hang out everywhere in between. A typical day might have you on the basketball court first period and jumping into Fiddle Lake at the Aqua Park second period—always alongside your campers. As a counselor, you're more than a guide through the daily schedule—you're a leader, coach, role model, and friend. Confidence, creativity, energy, patience, kindness, and empathy are the keys to thriving in this role.

Specialty Counselor

Like a General Counselor, you'll live in a bunk and join your campers for meals and bunk time, bringing the same leadership, patience, and energy to daily life at camp. What sets a Specialist apart is that during activities, you head to your specialty area to instruct, coach, and supervise in your area of expertise. You'll need confidence, knowledge, and a passion for your sport or activity—and a talent for engaging campers to create fun, dynamic, and instructional experiences.
