  • Girls Sing Delivered

There is nothing quite like camp traditions and this one is on the top of the list. Girls Sing is the ultimate camp tradition on girls side. Girls have been practicing for days and the pride each division has for making it great is unreal. For days now, you see groups of girls rehearsing their dance, perfecting their moves and memorizing their almas and cheers. It defines Chenny and there isn’t a girl on campus that isn’t fully engaged with this event. The big night is tonight and from what we see, the show will be a night to remember. We love everything about Girls Sing!!!

The night was all about Girls Sing and it was INCREDIBLE. It is a summer favorite and defines our camp tradition and spirit. Each division worked so hard on their dances and songs and it showed. When boys side can sit and support girls side for 2 hours, you know something special is happening. The support boys side gives girls side is just breathtaking. From our adorable freshmen all the way through our  beautifully talented CIT’s, they all brought the house down. I could never bring justice to describing the bonds these girls have with one another but watching them up on stage perform together allows us all to witness it for ourselves.  It is a true sisterhood that will stay with each and every one of them throughout their lives.  Each division picked a theme, danced and sang from their heart and soul. The emotion that was felt by every single camper and staff inside Shield’s Hall could have moved mountains. There were chills upon chills as each division wrote and sang their alma to an audience that listened to every single word.  They held hands and did it together and this is why the bonds are so tight. This shared tradition creates memories that will never fade. They will sing their songs for years to come and will never forget a word.

Congratulations goes out to the Inter girls for winning lower camp Sing this year. It was Inter the Woods  Land and our Inter girls were over the top fabulous. The costumes, the dances, the confidence and the showmanship were on display tonight from our Inter Girls. The emotions that happened as the CIT’s took the stage tonight  was unreal. From the first dance to their alma as they sat side by side tonight holding hands knowing that after all these summers spent together this was their last Girls Sing. The emotions ran high and the feelings ran deep. The CIT’s  won for upper camp as they performed CIT’s of the Caribbean. Their connection to each other, the beautiful friendships that they have nurtured and the respect and love they have for one another was center stage tonight. As we all watched this unfold in front of our eyes, you couldn’t help get emotional and cry with joy to watch these amazing young women perform together for the last time on our stage. What a night it was and to bear witness to this long standing camp tradition of Girls Sing was a highlight of our summer.

Now matter where each girl will go in their life, being a part of Girls Sing defines their youth. They wont forget the theme they chose, the songs they sang or dances they made. No matter how much time passes and how many years go by, Girls Sing will always stay forever in their hearts and will be a thread that connects them all. Oh what a night.

  • 13 More Days

Hard to believe that we only have 13 more days left of summer 2022. It is going at lightening speed and it is just so hard to believe that in just 13 days, our Chenny summer coming to an end. There is just so much more to happen and experience that we will not waste a minute. There are those camp events that indicate camp is coming to an end and with Girls Sing happening tomorrow,  and we all know that Color War is within reach. Even with only 13 days to go, we have 13 days of jumping in the lake, 13 days of pizza making, 13 days of playing palace with our besties and 13 days of feeling the freedom we do when we are here at camp.  No matter how tired we are or how exhausted we may feel, there is something that happens when Color War breaks and a giant surge of energy overcomes us all. We push through to the finish line and end camp with the biggest bang. There are so many incredible moments you experience when you live here all summer long but the last 2 weeks may be my favorite. You know its nearing the end but so much too look forward to.

Tonight was Head Staff Lip Sync and it was INSANELY GREAT!! I urge you to watch the video when it comes out on line. It was so  entertaining and our kids loved every minute of it. There is nothing like watching Head Staff Lip Sync in the Hall. The energy is palpable and tonight was no exception. When anyone in our camp family takes the stage, it feels like each of us are up there with them. This sense of pride we all feel is contagious. You cant explain it but you love to feel it. The talent, the choreography, the lip syncing, the costumes, the heart and soul behind each performance made tonight exceptional. Our Head Staff put on quite a show and it was a night we won’t soon forget. Your kids got a treat tonight and as I was watching this amazing show, I wondered who had more fun, the kids or our staff and the answer is obviously both!!! Best news is we get 13 more glorious days and nights to share moments like these.

It was the showtime tonight and our actors were ready to perform. The stage was set, audience was ready and the cast was excited to put on an incredible show and that is exactly what they did. It was a Broadway review that was absolutely incredible. Songs and performances from The little Mermaid, Legally Blonde and more. These campers poured their hearts and souls into the show and it showed. They sang and danced and the spotlight was shining bright on each one of our talented kids tonight. The show was fabulous, entertaining and most importantly, the kids had the absolute best time performing for camp. It was another an incredible night surrounded by amazing people and supporting one another in the best possible way. How we all love this place and how it just feels so good being here. Congratulations to our cast tonight. They are superstars!!!

  • OBL at Chenny

A brunch wakeup is always welcomed by everyone and it was so needed. The campers strolled into the Lodge and dined on a great assortment of delicious breakfast/lunch buffet options. The weather was ideal, not too hot, not too cool – but just right. Fields were full of happy kids and camp was just buzzing today. It was one of those days where everyone was in a great mood and camp just hd good vibes.

It was OBL night at CAW and it was incredible. This 1v1 tournament is a hit with everyone at Chenny and I personally (along with OBL creator Tracy McGrady) couldn’t be more excited. We face timed Tracy during the competition so he could he see how his idea of creating a 1v1 league has literally taken off here at Chenny and the NBA Hall of Famer loved watching it happen. The 1v1 trend is real and the kids got behind their counselors who were playing to represent their division. There was a mens bracket and women’s too. Biddy City was popping’ with 1v1 basketball tonight under the lights. It was so much fun watching the kids cheer for their counselors who were playing for them. Each division supported their favorite player with cheers and chants and of course signs they made by hand. One thing we do right here is get behind and support our camp family. We are just the most supportive group of people Ive ever been around. Both campers and staff were so excited cheering on their person. It was electric. One on one basketball is a huge hit here and tonights evening activity was a slam dunk

  • Our House Is Whole

The band is back together and all our traveling campers and staff have returned. It’s a full house again and we couldn’t be more excited. there is so much to celebrate was we officially enter our last 2 weeks of this glorious summer we are experiencing. It feels great to have the big kids back and they rolled into camp exhausted and exhilarated. Girl side jumped right into Girls Sing practice and camp just felt back to normal. Our traveling kids had the absolute best time on the road but there is nothing quite like coming home.

Our big kids hit the bed early as they were exhausted from all their travels and the rest of camp had an incredible night in Shields with our second Camper Talent Show of the summer. There is so much talent here at Chenny, we needed an entire additional night to highlight our kids and they were fabulous. They stood on that stage, danced, sang, told jokes, diablo’d, jammed with their rock band and were all around amazing. These kids, your kids, blew our minds away with the courage it takes to put themselves out there without fear and perform in front of an entire packed hall. The best part just went watching the kids who took that stage tonight but everyone in the audience who showered them with love and appreciation. They were all part of the show too. They brought the energy and it was felt by everyone in the hall tonight. It didn’t matter who was up there, they got cheers and standing ovations. The smiles said it all. When kids exited the stage they were met their bunk mates who couldn’t wait to shower them with adoration. The kids who performed for us tonight were superstars and that is exactly how they felt. Even singing off key didnt disrupt neon’s confidence. We were all riding high from the energy we all felt. Just another reason to all in love with this police.
    It’s Just Plain Awesome!!!!
  • Halloween-ing

It was just another incredible day at Chenny. Camp looked and felt amazing as we were outside playing under the gorgeous bright sun. As we are approaching the last 2 weeks of camp, we are appreciating every single moment we have here and making every day count.

Halloween in July, Why Not??  We were all so into our Halloween costume parade as each camper strutted their stuff down the catwalk. They showed off their ghostly creations and creative costumes. Everyone was in on the fun and loving celebrating Halloween-A-Wanda together. After the parade, it was off to trick or treat and campers went station to station and they filled up their bags with oodles of treats. In true Chenny tradition, the Seniors made a haunted house that spooked and creeped out everyone who dared to enter. It was just a great night of fun and there wasn’t anyone on camp who didn’t enjoy it.

The big kids all come back today and then our summer house will be whole again. As we look to the last 2 weeks here, it’s crazy how fast it went but we aren’t going to waste a second, minute or moment of what is left.  We plan on getting everything out of summer 2022 we possibly can. More fun is to be had and more memories are to be made.

  • Freshman, Junior & Middies  spent their day at Camel Beach for some fun in the water park. It was perfect weather and we took advantage of this great day.  They swooshed down the toilet bowl, got lazy down the lazy river, slipped down the slip and slide and got bounced off the giant bungee blob. Our littlest kids had a big day out of camp.

Inters, Collates and Seniors had an absolute blast at Aquatopia, a giant indoor water park that took them to new heights. They campers went on ride after ride after ride and had an absolute incredible day.  It was a full day in the water and our campers loved every minute of their Aquatopia adventure.

Our oldest 3 divisions are all enjoying their fabulous trips. Supers are loving their time in Virginia Beach. It was a beach and shopping day for these campers. An absolute perfect day. The GC’s and CIT’s are winding down as they wrap up their west coast adventure with a chill day at the pool in Phoenix. The trip of a lifetime for these kids and they all deserve a summer like this. Were just so happy to give it to them.

All the campers are safe and sound back in their bunks, all exhausted from an amazing day out. What a successful  trip day, full of memories that will last a lifetime. Your children were absolutely fantastic and every place our Chenny kids were today, we received praise on how well behaved and respectful our campers are.  Gotta love that.

  • Girls Win Whiffle Cup!

It was rise and shine for our Supers who were off to Virginia Beach and Philly. They were ready to roll before the sun came up. These campers have waited for their turn to travel and today was the day. Big kids getting to leave for their big adventure. The excitement was contagious and we are so excited for them. The destination was insignificant, it was the journey and who they are with that matter the most. They loaded those buses and off they went. I know that each one of those kids, couldn’t wait for their turn to travel and experience Chenny on the road. The next few days will be filled with so much fun and new experiences and we couldn’t be more excited for what they have in store.

Our CIT’s and GC’s continue to embrace the west coast with a breath taking trip to the Grand Canyon. When you stand in front of that giant canyon of beauty and are in awe of its grandness, all with your summer family right by your side, this moment will be one they can never forget. This trip they are on is one that will hopefully be with them forever and inspire them with new experiences and places that enrich their lives. We are so thrilled our traveling groups get to experience the sights, smells and sounds of so many new places and getting to share this with their camp friends makes this trip extraordinary. It was a hard few years with so many sacrifices our kids had to make and getting back out on the road with out Chenny kids, there’s just nothing better. Life is getting back to normal and having our trips back on the kids schedule is the absolute best.

Whiffle Cup is an absolute home-run and a camp favorite and tonight did not disappoint. It was girls vs boys and the spirit at camp was high. Girls were proudly wearing neon head-to-toe and boys sported all black. It was waffle ball under the lights and the stage was set. Our players were chosen and the stakes were high. Girls side was represented by: Emily Udler, Charli Houlis, Lily Koenig, Ava Scharaga, Emcee Levine, Simone Singer, Sophie Hichstadt, Dylan Walsh, Sam Rosenthal, Lexi Ortiz, Jamie Eber, Jordana Kohen and Avery Strifas. Boys side players were: Chase Wagner, Brandon Goldberg, Noah Sitmen, Austin Acree, Brandon Eisner, Harrison Plinkington, Enzo, Andrew Marcus, Luke Orlando, Ashton nadel, Landon Schlanger and Elan Harel. If you want to talk fun, tonight was just that. So much spirit. So many chants and cheers and so much fun. It was one of those nights that felt pretty perfect. The weather was ideal and the heat of this past week broke. Girls side pulled out with the win tonight and the MVP was freshman camper Charli Houlis. A night that will standout as a summer favorite. I overheard one of the players on boys side say to his buddy after the loss, “Even though we lost, this was the greatest night because it was just so much fun.” Looks like tonight was a huge win for everyone!
  • ‘t do it alone

Each summer we have the privilege to witness the best parts of your children and today didn’t disappoint as I saw kindness and love rise to the top in a very special way. We have a camper who has been coming to Chenny for years but this year, nerves knocked on her door and it hasn’t been an easy ride. From her smiling face, you would never know that on the inside she was feeling insecure and unsure of herself. But she kept it inside and just didn’t want anyone to know. When she sat with me today and cried and saw a huge mountain in front of her, I asked if she shared these feelings with her friends to which she shook her head no. I told her the only way to get over that huge mountain in front of her was to trust her friends and let them in and talk about it and that support would get her through the times she felt alone. I knew she needed backup and she couldn’t do it alone, nobody can do it alone.  She named 2 friends to which she thought could be her support and with her permission agreed for me to fill them in. Feeling shy and nervous about revealing her feelings, I sat with these two amazing girls and brought them up to speed on what their friend was facing and how she was keeping it all inside. Without hesitation, they wanted to help their friend whom they had no idea how sad she was feeling on the inside. These two incredible kids showed compassion and kindness and said it so perfectly, “We got her. We won’t let our friend do this alone.”  You see, this girl who has been here for years just didn’t want to burden anyone with how she was feeling and her friends had no idea but when they heard that she was struggling, they stepped up, grabbed her hand, put their arms around her and told her that they are by her side, always. I saw the three of them on their way to dinner and when they saw me they stopped and gave me a wink as to say, Don’t worry we got her covered.  The camper who had cried to me earlier today looked happier than I have ever seen. A smile so genuine and a look as she shed that weight that was heavy on her heart. She opened up, trusted and let her friends help. It was magical and she wasn’t alone. She is climbing that mountain with her friends right by her side. Sometimes you have to take a leap before you are able to fly.

It was Round Robin tonight for our evening activity and each division had their own awesome event planned. There were pool parties, beach bonfires, cake wars, dodgeball  and gaga tournaments. Camp was rocking and rolling and kids were having the absolute best time tonight. There is so much that happens in a single day here at Chenny and when you end your full day with incredible fun activities at night, there is just nowhere else you’d rather be.
  • Two Months

You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” by anonymous. This is what happens here. For two month we learn about others. For two months we listen to each others stories. For two months we nominate our friends and share what kind acts they did that deserved recognition. For two months we laugh at the jokes our friends tell us and for two months we can learn a lot about someone else. For two months our focus is outside our ourselves and that is why these two months bring so many people into our lives. Thank goodness for these two months

When campers are recognized as Campers of the Week and their name is announced at line up, to see their faces light up is watching the purest form of pride there is. To know that you are being recognized for being a great kid, camper and friend is huge deal at Chenny. These moments are priceless and they help create the magic of this place. It’s where your kids do really great things, are kind and are a joy to be around. What is better than knowing that the world around your baby recognizes their awesomeness. A huge congratulations to the weeks Campers of The Week. We are so proud of you

Our oldest kids left LA for Las Vegas and of course they made a stop at In’N Out burger. It was off to watch the fountain at The Bellagio Hotel before heading out to MGM Grand to catch the amazing Jabawokeez Show. These kids are experiencing a trip of a lifetime and loving every minute of it. Just when you think it cant get better, it does!
